Royal Castle

The castle, founded around the eleventh century, passed from the Marquis of Susa to the Marquis of Saluzzo and then to the Savoy family. During its millennial history it has seen numerous alterations and became property of the Savoy from the second half of the fourteenth century. Later it was the official residence of the Savoy-Carignano. The Castle, become a cultural and museum center, is part of the circuit of the Sabaude Residences of Piedmont and of the "Castelli Aperti" system of the Lower Piedmont; since 1997 it is included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
